Welcome to Academic Standards, Writing, and Presentations! This is a required course in your Applied Mathematics for Network and Data Sciences M.Sc. program. This semester we will examine and discuss the following topics in detail:
- preparing and delivering academic presentations;
- academic language (grammar and vocabulary);
- academic writing: register, style, structuring, formatting, citations, and referencing;
- the German education system and structures within German universities;
- oral and written communication and correspondence at German universities; and
- academic integrity and plagiarism.
The exam for this course is a 15-minute academic presentation that you will hold during one of our class sessions. You will need to research one of the class topics given above and present it to class using the Hochschule Mittweida slide template, an academic presentation structure and appropriate academic language.
